MERDEKA and what it means to me

Merdeka! This word is one of the word that cannot be impressed by speak because it is very subjective. Everyone has different meaning of this word in their life. Some people think that they are ‘Merdeka’ when they have nothing to do in daily life. Students feel ‘Merdeka’ if they have been in school holiday and workers feel ‘Merdeka’ when their employees not being in offices. Even children feel ‘Merdeka’ if their parents not at home and watching them every second of life.

For me, when I said ‘Merdeka’, I feel I can control myself with my own without any influence from anything around me. I can do anything that parallel with my vision for life which is every single thing that I do based on my wonderful religion, Islam. As a Muslim, if we cannot control ourselves, we cannot say that we have ‘Merdeka’. We might to fight with our bad desires and the most clearly enemy from passed which is demon. They always try to pull us into the wrong direction of our vision in this world which is become a caliph.

Besides, ‘Merdeka’ give for every trembling broken heart. Even though in Malaysia, if we look to the widest context, there were too many sacrifices did by our ancestors to release our country from colonization by various type of colonialists from Portugal until Britain. They sacrificed their time, stuff and even their own each drop of blood. Just for one reason that is to achieve freedom. Freedom to earn money, freedom to speak out their voice and the most important things is a freedom to administer our own mother land.

Furthermore, I feel very comfortable when live in this peaceful country, Malaysia. Compare to the other countries in ASEAN only, we can realize that only Malaysia have people which have various religious, race and opinion, whose can live together in harmoniously. There are countries that have war in every second which missile whistled past and tore the residential homes apart. Many have died everyday because of the greediness of power among administrator. Otherwise, natural disaster also occurs in many parts of other countries in this world such as earthquake and tsunami. However, Malaysia is the safest place to stay either in ASEAN or world.

As a conclusion, I am proud to be Malaysian! Although many countries have critics my beloved mother land, there is nothing for me. They like to critics because they are jealous in peaceful of Malaysia neither to our people nor environment. There are no things that can be always harmony forever even in country. Therefore, do not be forgotten to be cautious and sensitive every time in our life to protect our country or even ourselves from worth element. Try to improve ourselves a day by day with no give up.
